Hotter temperatures are here, for those who are already suffering in the heatwave, an air conditioner might be the thing that takes the edge off over the coming weeks and months. We’ve spotted a new air conditioner deal on Amazon that might be the thing to add to shoppers online baskets. The DeLonghi Pinguino Compact is an 8,300 BTU air conditioner that will help cool down parts of the home.
It’s said to be great for living rooms, bedrooms, and offices and for anyone worried about energy consumption, it has a Class A Energy Efficiency rating. It’s also environmentally friendly thanks to its refrigerant grass, which is up to 696 times more environmentally friendly than traditional gas.
The DeLonghi has many functions, including temperature, fan speed, timer and cooling. Shoppers can control them all with a remote control or use touch controls on the unit. It also comes with integrated handles and wheels for easy transportation.
Shoppers can also enjoy other parts of the 3-in-1 unit with a separate dehumidifying function for especially wet seasons or humid rooms and a separate fan function to simply circulate air.
And for people who want some alternatives, there are plenty to choose from. Currys has this 9,000 BTU air conditioner from Black and Decker at £299, while Argos has this popular Challenger air conditioner for £350. Shoppers have been praising this air conditioner as well, with one shopper calling it something they “can’t live without”.
They said: “I paid £367 for this in June 2023, as it was on offer. I’d really struggled through the heat during the summer of 2022, I have a medical condition which means I struggle to regulate my body temperature especially when it’s hot.
“Like many, I was wary about whether a portable air conditioner would be sufficient and, more importantly, how much it would cost to run. I needn’t worry; it works a treat and costs less than 20p an hour to run (SVR and a smart meter). It’s not much louder than my tower fan and I can sleep with it running.”
Another shopper added: “It managed to keep the room at 22 degrees when the outside temperature was 30 degrees, while running mostly in the surprisingly quiet “low” mode and eventually even turning off because it had sufficiently cooled the room.
I did have all the doors and windows closed, and have some thick plastic sheeting that I use to seal up the window that I vent it with.”
However, like many air conditioners, shoppers did complain about the noise. One shopper added: ” I bought this during the winter when the price was lower, I paid roughly £310. Now it’s summer, I’ve had a good go of it. It isn’t quiet, and I knew it would be because I researched before buying.
“I could never sleep with this thing running, and also I think the next door neighbours would be shouting through the wall at me to turn it off. I have tried running it for an hour before going to bed, but this isn’t much use really, the bedroom quickly warms up again after it’s turned off.”
