As the autumn weather grips the UK, families are expected to embrace the scenic beauty with outdoor pursuits during half term.
But, this seasonal splendour often trots into the home on soles and paws, transforming pristine floors into a canvas of muddy imprints.
As Google searches for “how to get mud stains out of carpet” have surged by 22 percent, it’s clear that muck-marred interiors are sending parents into a frenzy as they desperately seek effective and affordable solutions.
The gurus at Shark Clean have shared a vital tip to help battle persistent mud marks from carpets and soft furnishings, proving that keeping your carpets spick-and-span need not be a costly affair.
Indeed, for just 5p, homeowners can conjure up a miracle solution of their own, reports The Mirror.
The experts at Shark said: “Start by making a simple cleaning solution by mixing two teaspoons of washing-up liquid into half a litre of cool water.”
If you’re not sure about using the cleaning solution on your carpet, test it out on a small or inconspicuous area first to check it won’t cause any damage.
This solution is affordable and can be used to tackle a variety of stains, including mud and spills, without the need for expensive carpet cleaners.
The experts added: “Once you have your solution, apply it carefully to the stain using a soft-bristled brush, like an old toothbrush.
“Dab the solution from the edges of the stain inward to prevent spreading, and blot the area with a kitchen roll or a microfibre cloth.
“This process effectively removes dirt and grime for minimal cost—far cheaper than buying specialized cleaning products. After the area is dry, a quick vacuum will restore the carpet’s appearance, leaving your home clean for only a few pennies.”
